Arizona Hands & Voices

Support for families raising deaf and hard-of-hearing kids — without an agenda.

When a parent first learns their child is deaf or hard of hearing, they're handed a hundred decisions and no manual. Arizona Hands & Voices is who they call. The Phoenix-based chapter pairs families with trained parent guides through its Guide By Your Side program — free, one-on-one support from people who've walked the same road — plus workshops, a resource network, and a community that simply gets it. Their defining principle: they stay unbiased about how a child communicates, whether that's spoken English, ASL, cueing, or a mix. What works for the child is what's right.

For Sertoma, this is the mission from another angle. Sequoia teaches the kids; Hands & Voices holds up the whole family while they find their footing. Both come back to the thing we've cared about for a century — making sure no one navigates hearing loss alone.
